Life=Choices

We are responsible for our life.  We can’t blame our life on someone else.  There may be times when we are tempted to blame everyone and everything, but we must take responsibility for our own life.  That’s the only way we can grow.

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It’s not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument or your age that is to blame.  You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make.  Period.  ~Wayne Dyer

And, please, don’t get defensive about it.  We’ve all done it.  At least a few times in our adult life.  Because, at the time, it made it easier to accept if we could put the “why’s” off on someone else.  But it won’t work.  Trying to shift responsibility for your life off on someone else just makes you lose friends and alienates you from family.

How to take responsibility for your life:

It is amazing how much more free you feel when you are able to accept responsibility for your own life.  You’re no longer tethered to those you used to blame.  I’ve always thought that a true mark of maturity was accepting responsibility.   How mature can you be if you’re still blaming your parents for your life and you are 50 years old?

I will end with a quote by Bob Moawad:

The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own.  No apologies or excuses.  No one to lean on, rely on, or blame.  The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it.  This is the day your life really begins.
