Have you ever talked to a friend that you haven’t talked with in a very long time and you find out that they have been going through a really tough time? And you had no idea?! They may have been embarrassed to call you and let you know what is going on. It may be pride. It may be that they are so overwhelmed with what’s going on, that they just haven’t thought about calling anyone.
Look after your friends. Make sure they’re okay. Sometimes they are going through tough times and carry heavy burdens. They may not tell you that they need you, but they do. ~Unknown
They may have had a scary health diagnosis, they may be struggling financially or maybe one of their children has taken a bad path…it could be a million different things, but you had no idea they were going through this hard time, really struggling with their situation.
We all have very busy lives. Each and every one of us. But we can’t get so busy that we aren’t there for our family and friends. Of course, we can’t stay in touch with everyone all the time. But we can make sure that we check up on our friends. It may be just a text, a phone call, and email or a quick note. You may not have long, but you have a few seconds to check-up on them.
And when you check up on a friend and you find out that they’re struggling, try to do something for them that gets their mind off their present situation–even if it’s just for a little while.
Offer to run an errand for them. Take them to see a movie. Take them to lunch. Pray with them. Cook dinner for them at home. Do something that lets them know you care.
True and loyal friends are hard to come by. But loyalty works both ways. To have a true and loyal friend, you have to be a true and loyal friend.
True and loyal friends look after their friends.
Sending you blessings of love and friendship from Sterrett, Alabama!
