Read it as many times as you need to. Let it sink in. That’s what I had to do this morning. I read it over and over again.
Should you ever find yourself the victim of other people’s bitterness, jealousy, lies and insecurities…DON’T BE MAD. Remember, things could be worse. YOU COULD BE THEM. ~Unknown
Most of us can always find the good in people. Even if we have to look for it. But sometimes, a “mean person” crosses your path. And they are like a pesky little fly. They just keep hanging around and trying to hurt you. They lie to your face, they lie to others about you behind your back, they try to alienate friends from you and they are always looking for an opportunity to insert themselves into your life to bring you misery.
I’ve never understood what motivates a person like this. Has someone hurt them in their past? Has someone done to them what they are trying to do to you? Are they jealous and want to be you? Are they insecure and need the attention their behavior brings about? Who knows? There is just something in their spirit that makes them “mean-spirited“. And trying to figure out why they do what they do will only bring you more misery.
You just have to ignore the mean ones. You have to walk away, head held high and leave them be. The only thing you can do for them is pray for them.
When I say “ignore” them, that does not include people who are dangerously mean. Sometimes you may have to take legal action to stop mean behavior. You should never ignore abuse, bullying or harassment.
Within the context of this blog, “mean” refers to those people who are mean-spirited and are constantly causing some sort of drama in someone’s life.
My grandmother used to say, “You can’t fix a person’s heart. Only God can do that”. And she was right. Let God deal with the mean ones.
So the next time someone is mean to you, don’t get mad at them. It’s not worth it. Instead, put your energy into something positive. Just move on.
And always remember, no matter how mean someone is to you…things could be worse…You could be them.
