It always makes my day when I am able to do something for someone. My heart feels good and I feel alive when I am able to bless someone.
The kindness you give isn’t always the same thing you get in return. Sometimes, it’s more and sometimes, it’s less. Worse, sometimes you get none at all. But remember, God said,
“The one who willingly gives is always more blessed than the one who receives.” ~Acts 20:35 Amen.
I have learned over the years that I must give with no expectation of anything in return. I think that is a honed skill. When we are younger, we expect everything to be given to us. Laughing. That’s not true in all cases, but, for the most part, learning to give with no expectation is an attribute developed over time. Unfortunately, some people never get it.
The other day I was in the McDonald’s drive thru. I had ordered my Caramel Mocha Coffee with non-fat milk. I got up to the window to pay and the young attendant said, “Yours has been taken care of mam”.
I said, “Oh really? How nice. I’ll buy the person’s behind me.”
She said, “No, you can’t. He bought everyone in line until 9:00 this morning”. I just sat there for a moment. I felt a tear slip down and I said, “Oh my. How kind is that?”.
She said, “He does it all the time. I guess that’s why he is so rich”.
I said, “Yeah, I guess so.” And I knew in my heart that was exactly why he was so blessed. He had no idea who he was paying for. It didn’t matter. He was blessing everyone who came through the line and he had no expectation of receiving anything back. He was long gone, going about his day.
At that very second, I prayed that God continue to bless him and give to him abundantly.
Thank You, God, for Your blessings and I pray I always give and bless with no expectations.
Sending you blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!
