I’ve not had a lot of people who have told me that I can’t do something. I was raised by two strong women who instilled in me that with hard word, determination and walking with God, I could do anything. I’ve always believed that. It has helped me so much.
There are so many people out there who will tell you that you can’t. What you’ve got to do is turn around and say, ‘watch me.’ ~Layne Beachley
But every now and then I’ll meet someone who tries to make me doubt myself or someone will send me an email telling me that “You’re not all that.” It’s really, really good that my mother and grandmother were so strong. And they made us girls that way too. They knew those days would come where we’d have to rely on our backbones.
When I get those negative vibes from people, I think, “You Just Watch Me.” Those kind of people make me even more determined, even more sure that I am on the right path.
Some people just do not want you to succeed. They would much rather watch you fail than see you succeed. That’s sad, but true. When people give up on their own dreams or they aren’t willing to work hard to make them come true, they begin to try to tear your dreams down. Don’t let ’em. Be even more determined to succeed.
It really feels good when you set your mind on something and you finally achieve the results you wanted. Just like with anything in life, obstacles and adversity will always be there and your true backbone test is how you react to those obstacles. Will you give up or push forward?
I choose to push forward. To be resilient and to make the naysayers watch me.
Sending you blessings of love, determination, perseverance and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!
