The only thing that stays the same is everything changes. Life happens. Every second of every minute of every day. Life is happening. Time doesn’t slow down for us. No matter how much we want it to. It keeps marching on and the older I get, the faster time marches.
Life isn’t going to wait for you. You have to get up every day determined to live life to the fullest, to make the most of each moment and to keep moving forward no matter what obstacles you face. ~Charity M. Richey-Bentley
Time Marches On. You know the song by Tracy Lawrence, right? It is so true. Time Marches On.
The south moves north, the north moves south. A star is born, a star burns out, The only thing that stays the same is, Everything changes, everything changes. ~Bobby Braddock (Songwriter)
I’ve been doing some reflecting, making sure I have my priorities right. That’s something I tend to do more of too (as I get older). But actually, during this past year, I’ve needed to reflect, prioritize people and things in my life and let go of things that weren’t helping me grow. I say “prioritize people” to say that I needed to make sure my time was being spent with the people who love me and who I love.
Right now, my parents are experiencing more health problems than all the other years combined. Last year, my mother went to a doctor’s visit and before we knew it, she was scheduled for an emergency quadruple bypass surgery the following morning. Out of nowhere. It scared me to death. A woman who has been a rock, a shoulder, a confidante and the best friend I could ever have was suddenly very sick and facing a very hard surgery and long recovery. Once out of bypass surgery, one of her lungs collapsed and she was rushed back into surgery. She came through the surgeries, but her road to recovery has been long and difficult.
My dad has had his own health issues with high blood pressure, dizzy spells and last year, he had a pace maker put in and a few months ago had a valve replaced in his heart.
I guess I’ve said all that to say—Don’t wait. Don’t wait to go back to school. Don’t wait to mend relationships. Don’t wait to forgive. Don’t wait to learn how to sew, learn how to weld, learn how to ride, learn how to mend fences (both in the pastures and emotional fences). Don’t wait to tell your family, animals and friends that you love them and that you want what is best for them. Don’t wait to call your mother and daddy just because. Don’t wait to call your children and grandchildren just because. Look at every opportunity as “I need to do it now because I may not get another chance”. Don’t wait to take that trip. Don’t wait to go to the beach.
Just don’t wait. Period. Because time doesn’t wait. Time Marches On.
Sending you blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!
