Do you get enough sleep? Are you sure? I don’t. I know without a shadow of a doubt that I do not get enough sleep. It didn’t used to bother me. But now, lack of sleep affects everything about me. So, I am going to make some changes about my sleep habits and patterns in 2018.
So, HANDS UP if you didn’t get enough sleep in 2017! And HANDS UP if you want MORE SLEEP in 2018!
You owe it to yourself to get a restful night of sleep each and every night. Not a few times a week. Every single night. Your well-being depends on it. If you wake up tired and spend the day longing for a chance to have a nap, you are probably not getting enough sleep.
How does sleep help you? In many, many ways, but here’s the major ways:
- Sleep boosts immunity. Prolonged lack of sleep disrupts the immune system and you are more likely to succumb to bugs.
- Sleep can slim you. Studies have shown that people who sleep less than 7 hours per night tend to gain weight faster and are at increased risk of obesity.
- Sleep boosts mental well-being. Chronic sleep deprivation can lead to mood disorders.
- Sleep helps prevent diabetes. Studies have shown that people who sleep less than 5 hours per night have an increased risk of having or developing diabetes.
- Sleep wards off heart disease. Research has shown that chronic sleep deprivation is associated with increased heart rate, an increase in blood pressure and higher levels of certain chemicals linked to inflammation.
Do it for you in 2018. Get enough sleep. You’ll be happier, healthier and can work harder to achieve your dreams!
Sending you blessings of love, laughter & a good night’s sleep from Sterrett, Alabama!
