It’s Father’s Day Weekend! I hope it is a beautiful weekend for you and your family. Now, more than ever, we need strong fathers. Our world is in such chaos and our children need to be able to look to a strong, loving, caring and supportive role model. There’s so much in today’s world that distracts children from the family environment. Kids talk more to people they’ve never met on electronic devices than they talk to their own family members. Having a Father to guide you through childhood and be supportive of you when you are grown creates personal and professional stability.
Hats off to all the fathers who do everything they can to guide, direct and lead their children in a way that is pleasing to God. For all you fathers out there, this prayer is my way of saying, “Thank you for being a great dad!”
Dear Lord, Thank You for fathers. Give them Your compassion, understanding and wisdom when helping shape young lives. Show them Your way so that fathers are strong role models and they serve as strong leaders to their children and families. Instill within them Your peace and patience so that they bring calm in times of trouble and chaos. Help fathers show love, honor and respect to the mother of their children, strengthening family bonds. Help fathers know how to kill all the monsters under the beds, kiss away all boo-boo’s, be silent when needed, give advice when warranted, be a son’s first hero and daughter’s first love. Most of all, help Fathers be a Father like You, living a life of love, compassion and kindness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. ~Charity M. Richey-Bentley
