Being Happy

January 29, 2020 By Charity M. Richey-Bentley 29 Comments

Life can be hard. It can seem downright mean at times. But, you can’t let life get you down. Because no matter how hard life gets, you are still blessed.

Being happy doesn’t mean you have it all. It simply means you’re thankful for all you have.

None of us have it all. Not a single person. You may look at someone who has the biggest, fanciest home, the fastest, most expensive sports car, travel to the most exotic places and seem to you to have it all. But, if they are not thankful for all they have and they are constantly looking for and wanting more, they are not truly happy.

I’ve never had anything given to me. I’ve had to work for everything I have. Every little thing. And I am thankful for it all. I am thankful for everyone and everything I have in my life.

We all go through hard times. We all have times when we want more out of life. We should always strive to achieve what we want out of life. We all should have dreams and work hard to make them happen.

But don’t forget to be thankful for what you have. Right now. Because, more likely than not, you have a lot to be thankful for.

Happiness depends on many factors in life. Our health, our family, finances, and other factors play large roles in our happiness.

I received an email from one of our older followers. She told me about all her physical ailments and that she lived alone and that sometimes she was very lonely. But at the end of the email, she said “Charity, I’ve told you about all my problems because that is the last time I am ever going to write them down or talk about them. Because, even though I have a lot that is wrong, I also have a lot that is good. I am thankful for everything I have. I am happy. And that is what I am going to starting writing down and what I am going to start talking about.”

I pray that I am always able to see all “the good” and I am thankful for it all.

Blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!

Charity, I love your posts that are so uplifting. We need alot more of this in the world. I’ve had alot in my life & other times very little. I live a very simple life which is alot happier life for me. The Lord has provided me with what I need. When I get into the I want mode I now stop and ask myself do I need that. Material things are not that important to me anymore. God, family, friends, and my little critters are what is of importance to me. So now I want to thank you for shining light into lives with your posts. Your always in my prayers. ❤🙏
    Love, Bev Bell

I thank God every day for my many blessings. I don’t have everything but I see people who have so much less. I just lost my only child but I am thankful for the years that I had him in my life.

That’s good to hear from her. I have a lot of physical ailments also and recently lost my husband. I also have two grandsons who are 18 and 19 but don’t have driving licenses and don’t know how to take responsibility for bills or anything like that. I am thankful for them and for all my friends and family who help me, I can say I am blessed and I am happy for each new day. I couldn’t always say that. Every day is another chance to get closer to the person I want to be and to do something to be a blessing to someone else. Thank you for sharing that.

This was a real blessing for me this morning. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to have purpose in my life. Helping others who need support getting through everything that is required of being a responsible adult. My daughter works so hard and struggles as a single mom. Helping her out with providing care for her son. I am so blessed and thankful that my grandson is around me, that I can be there for both of them. But little does she know that by allowing me to be a caregiver for him has renewed my reason for living. I suffer daily with a lot of health issues and depression sets in to the point where seeing the next days isn’t a feeling of excitement. But now I look forward to seeing each day. Im also taking steps with going through a surgery that’s going to need a lot of rehabilitation and dealing with the pain until it is healed. Somehow it now makes sense that I love the fact that I am challenged to change my view because I do matter and this is God’s way to letting me know that he will be there for me. Showing me what i must do to help me pull myself back up and realize that life is precious and everyone needs to remember that you are not forgotten and that God will never abandon us in our time of need or just living our daily lives.

I am lifting you and your family up in prayer. I often say that sometimes God doesn’t cuff hangs your situation because He is changing your heart. I think that is true here. He has shown you that you are needed, loved and cared for.
What a blessing your words are.

    Charity,

You lifted me and only GOD knows how many souls you have touched. GOD has fulfilled me with so many wonderful gifts. My children, grandkids, and the very large extended family I’m part of. My heart goes out to the men and women that serve our country, the military, the police, our firefighters, our Doctors, and nurses, etc. This is love, people that get out there protecting, and saving lives of strangers. GOD BLESS .
