We’ve all done it. We’ve all looked at someone and thought, “How are they doing so much better than me? They seem so successful and I’ve been working longer and harder”!
Don’t compare yourself with anyone in this world…if you do so, you are insulting yourself. ~Bill Gates
Don’t do that to yourself. Those kind of thoughts bring about anger and bitterness. And you don’t want to have those in your heart.
First of all, nobody knows your own unique journey. No one can understand what you’ve been through, what your dreams are or where you are going. Only you and God are privy to that. No one else. Of course, you may have people close to you who have supported you, but they can’t want it as bad as you. Only you know the twists and turns of your journey.
On the flip side of that, you have no idea what someone else’s journey is all about. You do not know their struggles, their heartaches, their knock-downs, their get-ups. You only see the results of their journey. And even though you may have been working harder and longer than them, their struggles may have been much, much greater. Their path is not your path.
Stay so focused on your own journey that you don’t have time to compare yourself. Learn from yesterday, treat your mistakes as lessons and never give up.
Comparison hurts your progress. When you give your energy to other people’s journeys, you are actually hurting your own journey. You start to question everything about your path, wondering if you should start over or if you should change plans. Don’t do that to yourself.
The only person you should try to better than is the person you were yesterday. Everyone else can take care of their own little red wagon.
Blessings to you from Sterrett, Alabama!
