We Don’t Meet People By Accident

November 12, 2017 By Charity M. Richey-Bentley 4 Comments

We don’t meet people by accident.

I’m sure you’ve heard this a million times.  But have you ever stopped to think about it?  Everyone you meet, every single one you meet, you meet for a reason.  The person you met at the gas station when you stopped to fill up?  There’s a reason.  The person you met on the train yesterday?  There’s a reason.  The person you met last year for a very, very brief moment in time, but still think of him/her, there’s a reason.

There’s always a reason.  That reason may become a lesson and it may become a blessing.

Everyone isn’t meant to stay in our lives forever.  Some are meant to be with you only for a season, only for a little while.  And there will be some who stay in our lives for a long time and then something happens and they may no longer be with us.  There’s a reason for that–for them no longer being with us.  And the years spent with us will give us lessons and blessings.

Some people come into your life to test.  Some use you.  Some teach you. And some bring out the best in you. ~Unknown.

As you go through life, you’ll meet all of these–the testers, the users, the teachers and those who bring out the best in you.  Embrace them all and be grateful that you learned the lessons that the testers and users provided and you received the blessings from the teachers and those who bring out the best in you.  You’re probably asking yourself, “Why should I be grateful for the testers and the users?”.  Because they are as much a part of the life cycle as the teachers and those who bring out the best.  That’s just the way the cycle of life works.  Good experiences and bad experiences and on and on and on.

Always remember that you can’t force someone to stay with you.  You can’t change someone into who you want them to be.  They are who they are.

People come and go.  And when they go, life goes on.  Let people go and let them be who they need to be.  Their part in your story may be over, but your story isn’t over.

Others will stay forever.  Be grateful for that.  Cherish your time with them and show them your love as much as you can.

No matter how long they are with you, if it’s only for a little while, or for the rest of your life, they’ll all leave you with memories and change you in some way.  Let them all change you in a good way.  Let the bad experiences teach you lessons and see all the good experiences as blessings.

Sending you blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!
