We all get angry. And we all say things we don’t mean when we are angry. But don’t let your emotions make you use cruel words. There’s a difference between saying something that isn’t good and using cruel words. Cruel words can wound the heart and soul and can take years to repair. Some damage done by cruel words can never be repaired.
A bad mood is never an excuse to use cruel words. NEVER. Moods pass, but cruel words wound the soul. ~Unknown
You probably won’t have to think very long if I ask you if you remember that time when cruel words really hurt you, right? We tend to remember everything about the incident. That it was during a fight with ta loved one or during a bad exchange at work or some guy said terrible things to you during a fit of road rage as he flipped you off…
Some people do not understand the power of words. They can break a heart. They can heal a heart. Words can soothe you or they can enrage you. Words can make you happy and words can make you sad. Words can brighten someone’s day or they can make it bleak and gray.
No matter how bad your mood gets, NEVER, ever use cruel words. Your mood is going to pass. But the effects of cruel words are long-lasting. You’ve heard the quote that “there are 3 things you can’t ever get back: the word after it’s spoken, the rock after it’s thrown and time once it is spent.”
It’s so true. You can’t unhear something. Once you’ve heard it, you can’t unhear it. And you can’t unsay something. You cannot take back your cruel words. They resonate in peoples’ hearts and souls. I am not saying that you can’t be forgiven for cruel words. But, forgiving you for cruel words and sticking around for more are very different things.
I pray to have words that soothe, that bring peace and comfort and brighten others’ day.
Sending you blessings of smiles, love and laughter from Sterrett, Alabama!
