It’s one of our Holiest of days, Good Friday. When we think about what Jesus went through on Good Friday, we are saddened. I cannot help but cry on Good Friday.
But, I keep telling myself that Sunday is coming. And I have hope in my heart and can’t wait for our blessed Easter morning. I’m sending Good Friday hugs to you. I pray this hug takes away your sadness and gives you peace in your heart.
No matter where you are today, just know that Good Friday had to happen for us to experience the joy of Easter morning. You may be at work, at home, at school, running errands. Just know Sunday is coming.
Nothing should keep us from having hope in our heart or keep us from having the wonderful expectation of the resurrection that the Easter spirit brings.
God has brought us through this Holy Week and to our Good Friday. Take a few minutes today and remember what happened on Good Friday. Remember what Jesus went through on this day:
He was publicly flogged. Back then, people who were publicly flogged were beaten with strips of leather, varying in length, with pieces of bone and lead sewn into the leather.
A crown of thorns was driven into His head, causing unbearable pain. He was constantly being hit on the head with a stick by many different people.
They spit on Him and mocked Him. With help from Simon, He carried His own cross to his crucifixion. His legs were twisted in an unnatural position, his feet stacked on top of each other and then nailed to the cross.
His wrists were nailed to the cross. To keep from suffocating, He had to try and lift Himself up each time He needed to breathe. It took Him six hours to die. Six hours of pure torture. ~Mark 15:16-32.
That’s what Jesus went through for us. And it happened on Friday of Holy Week. And He did it all for us so that we may live eternally. Please pray this short prayer with me for our Good Friday.
Dear God, Thank You for Your immeasurable sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. May we spend time today remembering what Jesus went through so that our sins may be forgiven and we may live eternally.
Some of us will be sad today as we think about everything Your Son went through. But we will stop to remember that Sunday is coming and Your Son will be resurrected. No grave can hold Him down.
Be with us today as we await the resurrection of Your Son, Jesus. In His name, we pray. Amen.
I’m sending you this Good Friday hug to bring peace to your heart. It’s to let you know that you are loved and cared for. Never forget that. God loves you and will never leave you. With this hug, I am saying, “Keep hope in your heart because Easter morning is coming. God loves you and I do too.”
Sending you blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!
