Good Morning, My Friends. I don’t feel very bright and cheery as I write this. I am so brokenhearted about the beautiful souls taken from us in El Paso and Dayton. My heart is just so heavy. I feel sadness, I feel loss and I feel like my soul is hurting.
I know that God is with the families who have lost their loved ones. I know it, but each time something like this happens, it is harder to feel hope and it is just impossible to wrap your head around why things like this happen.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. ~Psalm 34:18
I am going to repeat this to myself over and over again. I believe it. I know this is true because I have felt His presence during some terrible, terrible times. I pray that for all who have lost loved ones, may they know that He is close to them. And He will help them when they feel crushed, when they feel alone, when they have experienced terrible loss.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. ~Psalm 73:26
During these difficult times, it’s hard to feel God. And it’s hard to hope and it’s even more difficult to maintain faith in humanity. We ask ourselves, “Why does this continue to happen? Why are people so senselessly taken from us?”
It’s not possible to understand why these things happen. Only God knows. We have to trust Him even when we don’t want to. We have to trust Him even when our emotions want revenge, even when our emotions want justice and some type of explanation of why things happen the way they do. We just have to trust Him.
I pray that your week ahead is filled with kind people, positive thoughts and happy moments. May God use you to shine His love and goodness for all to see. May others look at you and know that you have the love of God shining from your heart. May others look at you and know that you walk closely with Christ and that you want the best for others.
