We’re all just walking each other home.
~Ram Dass
We’re all here to help each other find our way back to our heart, our authentic self, to live the life we were born to live…
I’ve learned that there are no detours or accidents in this life. Instead, they are all very much part of our path, even if the experiences while going through them are painful. No one with whom we cross paths is ever “wrong” for us, even if we experience hardship while being with them. After all, by virtue of walking with us for a time, they help us gain clarity about who we are and what we want—even if it’s through the contrast of reflecting back to us who we are not or do not want to become, and what we do not want to experience.
Thank you for walking me home. ~Alice Chan, Ph.D.
Each time I see these two quotes, they hit me like a ton of bricks. Maybe because they are so spot on.
We all have people in our past who we may wish we had never met. Especially when we are going through a really hurtful time with that person. But, in fact, you were supposed to meet them. Every person in your life is there for a reason. Whether they are with you for a season or a lifetime, they are there for a reason. The ones you have good times with and the ones you have bad times with. Every single one is there because you need them there. You may not realize it at the time, but you need them in your life at the exact time they are there.*
I’m always saying it, but we are here to help others. To help each other find our way home. Life is tough. Sometimes it is really, really tough. But it is always better when you have those people who come into your life and help you through the tough times, those people who help you walk home. And sometimes the people who help you turn out to be the ones you least expect to be there for you. And the one who you thought would be there can’t be found. And that’s okay. You are both supposed to be helping each other, whether it is a surprise or not. You are both walking each other home.
I have had so many people helping me walk home. And I thank you. If you were in my life for a short time, thank you. If you were in my life for years and years or if you’re still there, thank you for walking me home.
Blessings to you!
Charity
*I’m not referring to people that are emotionally, verbally or physically abusive to you.
