You’re probably wondering why this image has a empty rocking chair on it, right? Well, it’s because that’s what worrying is like…
Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but doesn’t get you anywhere. ~Unknown
You go back and forth, day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year. Sometimes when you look up from your worrying, you realize that you’ve lost a lot of time doing nothing. Worrying does NOTHING for you!
I am committing myself to a worry-free 2018! And do you know why? Because I’ll be happier, I’ll be healthier, I’ll have more joy and I’ll be a better person.
We are actually told to not worry in the Bible:
That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life–whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food ion barns, for your Heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? ~Matthew 6:25-27
When you think about the last verse (Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?), you realize that worrying does nothing for you. I know it is hard not to worry. Life is really, really hard sometimes. And there always seems to be something that is going wrong and can cause you to worry. There may be problems in your family, with your spouse, your job, your children’s schools. That’s where faith comes in. Pray about it and turn it over to God. Don’t worry about it. Use your faith to keep the worries away.
I pray that God watches over you and your family, that you trust in God and in Him you find peace. Amen.
Sending you worry-free blessings from Sterrett, Alabama!
