Sometimes, what’s meant to cause you harm turns out to be your biggest blessing.
Life can be so tough sometimes. And there are some mean people in this world that make it tougher. People who get pleasure from trying to harm others. What is it with these people? They don’t really do any good for others. They spend their life trying to keep others down. Is it greed? The need to 1-up somebody? The need to somehow feel superior over others? The almighty need to compete? Or is it just plain ‘ol meanness?
People can cause such harm, such hurt…well, wait a minute! Can they? Can’t they do this only if you allow them to?
Life is 10%
what happens to you
and 90%
how you react to it.
~Charles R. Swindoll
If someone does something to you, that is part of the 10%, right? So, somebody does something malicious against you and it might look like they’ve hurt you. Whether or not they actually hurt you is determined by how you react to it, right? So, if you grow wiser from the experience, if you are stronger from the experience, if you are more determined from the experience, haven’t they actually helped you? Hasn’t something that was meant to harm you, turned out to be a blessing? Yep.
I’ve had such a recent experience. I’m sure some of you reading this blog have too. Somebody did something to you that was meant to cause you harm. But, you didn’t react the way they expected. You took away their power to hurt you. You grew as a person and they became weaker and their soul a little darker. When you respond positively to a negative situation, you will be blessed even though you were meant to be harmed.
I’m not saying that maybe you didn’t stumble. Maybe you got knocked down on your butt. And you may have even stayed knocked down on your butt. But, you got back up, didn’t you? And you realized that you grew from the experience. You became stronger spiritually and emotionally. What was meant to harm you, blessed you.
Every night before I close my eyes, I thank God for my many blessings. Tonight, I am going to thank Him for all the blessings that were originally intended to harm me, but blessed me. J
Blessings to you!
