Life itself seems like it is a test at times. We take the test first and then learn the answers later in life. Have you ever felt that way? Sometimes our tests are difficult and sometimes we breeze through them.
Actually these “tests” are just daily challenges that are sewn into the fabric of our lives. The older we get, the better we are able to deal with our challenges. There’s a lot of truth to the saying, “Practice makes perfect”.
I often hear people say, “If I had known then, what I know now, maybe I might have….” Isn’t that the purpose of life—to learn from our life’s lessons, grow and become a better person than before?
Life’s tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
Typically, wisdom comes from living a life full of experiences, a life rich in lessons. A life that has its ups and downs. A life that is hard sometimes and good sometimes. We can’t control what happens in our lives, but we can choose how we face and deal with what happens.
That’s where wisdom comes in. How you face your challenges throughout your life creates the niche inside you for your wisdom to grow. And each time you face one of your challenges, that niche gets a little bigger. Until finally, you’re older and wise.
And yes, you’re usually an older person before you’re truly wise, but that’s life. I wish we could be wise when we are younger. Just think about all the things we wouldn’t do if we were wise at an early age. And there are probably some things we would do if we were wise at an early age.
Wisdom is a wonderful “thing”. The Bible says it is more precious than gold and silver.
How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver! ~Proverbs 16:16
I would consider it a tremendous personal gift to have wisdom. I pray that as I move forward on my journey, I grow in wisdom.
Sending you blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!
