We all do it. Overthink. Sometimes I overthink so much that I create a problem that wasn’t even there. It is a habit that creates a lot of stress and anxiety.
Overthinking causes terrible damage to your entire human psyche. When you’re laying in bed at night analyzing every aspect of your life over the last 10 years. And you can’t sleep. You can’t sleep because your mind is going a mile a minute. Your heart rate is up. You’re tossing. You’re overthinking. The next day, you are drained and tired because you haven’t slept and you feel run down.
Overthinking is the biggest cause of our unhappiness. Keep yourself occupied. Keep your mind off things that don’t help you.
Have you ever started thinking out loud about a situation that is causing you stress? Maybe you’ve played back things over and over again that have hurt you and you are overthinking the actions and outcomes over and over again in your head. And then you realize that you are having a conversation about it out loud.
Half the time we are so off track with our own thoughts that we simply become a mess of feelings, opinions and in some cases, overwrought emotions about what should have been said and done.
Don’t do this to yourself. Train your mind to stay occupied on other things. Keep your mind focused on positive, uplifting things.
When you have a disagreement or someone does something wrong to you, don’t overthink what you should have said and done. That moment has passed. Let it go and move on to something positive.
When you have a situation going on with family members and/or friends, don’t overthink every word someone has said. Don’t overthink every action someone has taken. Stay focused on doing the right thing and praying for the best outcome.
