Remembering Our Loved Ones At Christmas

December 19, 2019 By Charity M. Richey-Bentley 11 Comments

Christmas can be the best time of the year, but it can also be sad.  Some people struggle with memories of loved ones who have passed on.  The sadness they feel in their hearts overrides the joy of Christmas.

Whether your loved ones have been gone a short period or for many years, this can be a hard time.  You want to feel joy and the peace that Christmas can bring, but you find it so hard to do because you are missing your loved ones so much.

The one thing that has helped me the most has been prayer.  Prayer is a powerful weapon God gave to us.  I don’t know where I would be without prayer and my faith that have brought me through many hard times.  I pray for peace in my heart and soul and I pray for God to comfort me during the hard times.

And I also pray for you–that you will find peace and know His comfort for your heart.  I hope this prayer helps you.

Dear Heavenly Father, It’s hard for many right now because their hearts are broken. They can’t feel the joy and happiness of this Christmas Season. We are to be thankful for the gift of Your Son, but many are just feeling empty. You promise to be near the brokenhearted and help them with their wounds. God, they can’t see Your way and their eyes keep losing focus on You. Give them peace, and lead them to comfort.  Help them find refreshment for their souls.  Send to them gifts of Your love and let them feel hope in their hearts. Take away their sadness and replace it with Your joy. Be with them this Christmas Season!  In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Sending you prayerful blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!

Heavenly Father, Please take away my tears for I am without love this holiday season. Send my family in my dreams this night that I may remember I was once loved by a few. Please fill my heart with joy so I may smile again and wrap your arms around me once more for I need your touch. In Jesus name I pray and thank you father in heaven. Amen

Yes, Christmas time can be difficult for many who have lost their loved ones through death or a divorce. Having to share kids during a holiday season is nearly always very painful. I know b/c I’ve been there. But that is where I’ve really learned to change my focus.

My focus is now on the greatest gift giver of all! His Name is Jesus! Christmas is a celebration of God’s only son, born of a virgin in a stable, so that we could have life and have it more abundantly. When my focus is on Him, I have so much to celebrate! He is the game changer of all negative circumstances! I am so thankful that He is my source of comfort, peace, protection, joy, and so much more! I pray you, too, will find comfort in Christ!
