Most all of us have been in a place in our life where we thought we had nothing. We did, of course, have something, but we just didn’t have what we wanted. And no matter how hard we worked, no matter what we did, we just couldn’t get to the place where we weren’t living paycheck to paycheck.
And while you were struggling, you may have constantly seen people who, on the surface, appeared to have everything. They had a great job with a greater salary, expensive cars, a large, fancy home and all the designer clothes they could ever wear.
Two things define you: your patience when you have nothing and your attitude when you have everything.
I know the feeling, “I have nothing” well. You see, I used to not be as grateful a person as I am today. I used to see more problems than blessings and get very impatient with God and everyone else. This was years ago, but I still know the feeling. Only when God changed my heart and I changed my actions, did I learn to wait on God and I learned to be patient and depend on His timing. I saw changes immediately. I did not want to be defined that way. And I am so grateful that God changed me.
I don’t consider myself as having everything now, but I am so very blessed. I always tell people, “I am the most blessed person I know”. And I mean that. And I do not take any of my blessings for granted. I know that God has blessed me in the past, is blessing me now and has many blessings in store for my future. And I thank Him and glorify His name.
I pray that I always have in my heart and soul an attitude of gratitude.
Sending you blessings of patience, gratitude and love from Sterrett, Alabama!
