The Road I Have Traveled

May 26, 2020 By Charity M. Richey-Bentley 41 Comments

We all go through hard times. Every single one of us. We all have a day every now and then when we struggle. We have a day when we just can’t seem to get ahead.

And sometimes the hard times last longer than a day–maybe a week or month and some struggle for even longer. It would be nice to be able to say that the road is always sunny and bright.

But that’s just not the case. Sometimes our road is not easy. It is downright hard. And at the time you are traveling your road, you may feel it is impossible.

The road I have traveled has not always been an easy one and the path was often full of stones, but I am still here. I know the only reason I was able to make it this far, is that God was walking the road with me, every step of the way. Amen.

I would not be here without God. He deserves all the praise. He has truly walked every step of my road with me. He’s not only walked with me, He has picked me up each time I’ve fallen.

When I was younger, I didn’t rely on God as much as I do now. And many times, while I was actually going through the hard times, I didn’t realize how God protected me.

But, I can look back now, and see how God kept me safe, how He guided me away from situations that would cause me harm. I may not have realized it at the time, but He was there every step of the way.

Sometimes I hear someone say, “My journey has been harder than most”. I don’t usually respond to those type comments, but no one really knows how hard or difficult another person has it.

Most people don’t show everything that is going on in their lives. I know I don’t. And one person cannot judge another person’s journey. It’s impossible.

I can guarantee you that if you knew everything about a person’s journey, you’d wonder how they ever made it through. Always remember that, just like with us, it was because God was with them.

I thank God I am still here. Still here traveling this road every single day. With God’s help, I get up each time I fall. With God’s help, I learn from my mistakes and with God’s help, I keep moving forward.

Sending you blessings of love, prayer, and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!

This message is so much me, I absolutely had to share it. It is so real to me. I personally have come through 4 death defying times in life. By medical standards, I am a walking miracle.
God Bless you and may God continue to walk with you.

So well said and I do believe God has picked me up several times in my life. Even when I have said, I have had enough. The Journey towards heaven is just that, stones in the way. And with God carrying us thru those times we always make it.

I’m still a big complicated work in progress. I’ve really fouled up along the way many times. I am very thankful that GOD is in control not not me or I’d be in the garbage heap ready to be burned. PRAISE the LORD for HIS love, grace, mercy and most of that JESUS took my punishment upon HIMSELF and set me FREE❗✝️

This is so true! You should never judge anybody because you don’t know The path they are on! It might be a bumpy one, it might be a hard one, or it could be an easy one, nobody knows that’s! That why people should be always kind to everyone and care. Do you see somebody that is struggling or sad you should ask if they need help, Just never know you might have made their day that day. God bless everyone in this world and keep them safe from this pandemic. Amen

Charity, do you ever wonder why life is so much harder for some than others? Money has definitely been a problem in my life and also you get involved with the wrong people if you move too far away from home. From my experiences moving too far away, it’s hard to get back to the ones you love and who love you. You grow older and maybe have to have an operation that leaves you more handicapped than before, then it is much harder to get back to your family and friends. My lesson learned is to always stay close to your own family because someone else’s family never fills your need for your own family and friends. Lonely in Florida

This is so true for me! All of it is! I just want to know why it gets harder and harder the longer you live!! When does it get easier? Or maybe it doesn’t!! You would think as you get older it might get easier, but I’d doesn’t!!!!My husband always says, At least you’re on this side of the grass! That doesn’t make me feel better!! I always hear you’re going to a better place!! I hope it’s soon!!
