The Perfect Christmas Gift

I spend a lot of time on Christmas gifts. I always want to find just the right gift. It has to be perfect. I’m not one for gag gifts or gifts that someone can never use. I like to find exactly the right thing for the person I have in mind.

Staying really focused on finding the right gift can sometimes mean that we overlook the simple and “staring-at-you-in-the-face-gifts”.

At the end of the day, we all just want to feel appreciated. We want to know that someone is glad we are in their life. In other words, we want to know that we matter to others. As employees, we want to know that our hard work is recognized. As spouses, we want to know that our partner is glad we are with them, that we are loved and appreciated, that they are glad we are in their life. As friends, we want to know that our friends appreciate us and that they are glad to have friends like us. As parents, we want to know that our children appreciate us and they are glad to have us as parents.

We all just want to know that others are thankful for us, that we are appreciated, cared about and loved.

So if you are looking for the perfect Christmas gift, remember that one of the best Christmas gifts you can give someone is thanking them for being in your life. So thank them. You can do it with a card or you can do it face-to-face, voice-to-voice or text-to-text. However you decide to do it, you’ll be amazed at how much you touch their heart. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that you’re appreciated and that others are thankful to have you in their life.
