Have you ever talked to a friend that you haven’t talked with in a very long time and you find out that they have been going through a really tough time? And you had no idea?! They may have been embarrassed to call you and let you know what is going on. It may be pride. It may be that they are so overwhelmed with what’s going on, that they just haven’t thought about calling anyone. They may have had a scary health diagnosis, they may be struggling financially or maybe one of their children has taken a bad path…it could be a million different things, but you had no idea they were going through this hard time, really struggling with their situation.
We all have very busy lives. Each and every one of us. But we can’t get so busy that we aren’t there for our family and friends. Of course, we can’t stay in touch with everyone all the time. But we can make sure that we check up on our friends. It may be just a text, a phone call, and email or a quick note. You may not have long, but you have a few seconds to check-up on them. Someone sent me a text the other day telling me they were thinking of me and praying for me. The number wasn’t in my contacts list so the name didn’t come up. I didn’t recognize the number so I sent them a text back saying, “I really needed this, but you may have sent it to a wrong number?” Their response was, “Not a wrong number. I meant it for you.” I still don’t know who it was, but I’m grateful I received it.
Cover Your Friends In Prayer.
Life has taught me that the very best thing I can do for my friends is pray for them. And I do. Every day. When a friend comes to mind, I pray for them. When someone mentions a friend, I pray for them. When I haven’t heard from a friend in a while, I pray for them. I don’t think there is any greater way to show love for a friend than to pray for them. And it is the greatest gift I can receive from a friend. When someone tells me they have been praying for me, I thank God that I have a friend who loves me enough to pray for me.
Sending you blessings of love, prayer and friendship from Sterrett, Alabama!
