Good Friday Hugs

April 9, 2020 By Charity M. Richey-Bentley 55 Comments

It’s one of our Holiest of days, Good Friday. When we think about what Jesus went through on Good Friday, we are saddened. I cannot help but cry on Good Friday.

But, I keep telling myself that Sunday is coming. And I have hope in my heart and can’t wait for our blessed Easter morning. I’m sending Good Friday hugs to you. I pray this hug takes away your sadness and gives you peace in your heart.

With everything that is going on in our world right now, this Good Friday will be different for us. Because of our stay at home orders, we won’t be participating in Good Friday services.

But that shouldn’t keep us from having hope in our heart or keep us from having the wonderful expectation of the resurrection  that the Easter spirit brings.

God has brought us through this Holy Week and to our Good Friday. Take a few minutes today and remember what happened on Good Friday. Remember what Jesus went through on this day:

He was publicly flogged. Back then, people who were publicly flogged were beaten with strips of leather, varying in length, with pieces of bone and lead sewn into the leather.

A crown of thorns was driven into His head, causing unbearable pain. He was constantly being hit on the head with a stick by many different people.

They spit on Him and mocked Him. With help from Simon, He carried His own cross to his crucifixion. His legs were twisted in an unnatural position, his feet stacked on top of each other and then nailed to the cross.

His wrists were nailed to the cross. To keep from suffocating, He had to try and lift Himself up each time He needed to breathe. It took Him six hours to die. Six hours of pure torture. ~Mark 15:16-32.

That’s what Jesus went through for us. And it happened on Friday of Holy Week. And He did it all for us so that we may live eternally.

I’m sending you this Good Friday hug to bring peace to your heart. It’s to let you know that you are loved and cared for. Never forget that. God loves you and will never leave you. With this hug, I am saying, “Keep hope in your heart because Easter morning is coming. God loves you and I do too.”

Sending you blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!

Praise the Lord for sending his only begotten son, to die for my sins. The ultimate blood sacrifice for all that believe in Jesus. That your relationship with God will be justified.

Thank you dear Jesus Christ for suffering for us all so much. You were innocent of anything harmless or outrageous and yet you suffered beatings, whippings, ignorant nastiness from people who had earlier loved you and finally after a struggle carrying your cross the place where you were to wait for death, you were sadly crucified and finally gave up your spirit to your Father. We can never thank you enough dear Lord and we were so glad that on Easter Sunday you returned to us as a newly risen Jesus who was with us for a while before finally leaving to go back to your Father and Heaven, He is risen indeed. Hallelujah!

    Isaiah 53 – 4-6
    Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken. Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

We are reminded today of what JESUS CHRIST did for mankind. He willingly gave His life so that everyone who believes in Him will go to HEAVEN. This is true whether we die or He takes us to HEAVEN during THE RAPTURE. I believe God is getting The World ready for the day He tells JESUS to come get The Believers and take us to heaven. You may never have heard of this before. In fact, the word Rapture is not found in THE BIBLE, but JESUS taught us in Matthew 24 that while 2 people are together, one will disappear and the other will be left behind. If you or a relative or friend do not want to be left behind when JESUS comes, please ask JESUS to forgive your Sin, ask HIM to save you and ask HIM for help in telling others about HIS wonderful forgiveness and LOVE. And because JESUS ROSE from The Dead….we who believe in HIM will also be ressurected. “PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW…”

The online service I listen to is from New Canaan Church in Crossville Alabama. I lived in Crossville Alabama for 6 months in 2014. Before that I lived in California for 26 years. I am however originally from Australia and am now back here. My estranged husband is from the U.S and is still living there.
