Good Morning, My Friends! Happy July 4th and may God bless your day! I hope your day is filled with family, friends, happiness and good times!
I realize that it isn’t very popular among some people to talk about the American flag. But I am proud to be an American. I love our flag and all it stands for.
With so much going on across our Country, it seems that only the negative is highlighted and we don’t see or hear about the positive.
I still believe I live in the greatest Country on earth. Yes, we have flaws, imperfections and negativity. But, we also have a lot of good. A whole lot of good.
Our Country’s independence wasn’t gained easily. It was a hard-fought battle. I can’t even begin to understand what the Soldiers were going through on September 13, 1814 in Baltimore Harbor.
But, as the sun rose and the mist from the smoke cleared on September 14, 1814, the sight of the 30′ by 42′ American flag waving in the wind must have been a sight to behold.
As Francis Scott Key looked for the American flag in the smoke, he penned the words to our National Anthem. And I still love those words.
I am sending you July 4th hugs to say, “Happy July 4th. I pray your day is filled with peace and happiness. And I pray you feel the blessings I am sending with your hug”.
I also wanted to pray a short, simple prayer and send it with your hug. Please pray this prayer with me and receive the blessings I am sending with it.
Dear God, Be with us today on this beautiful July 4th. Bless us and protect us as we go about our day. Give us beautiful weather, good times with family and friends and peace for our hearts and homes.
Reach down with Your healing hands and heal this great Land. Remove the division and give us unity. Remove the chaos and give us peace and calm.
Give us the ability to look at solutions that are grounded in love and compassion. Remind us to look for and see, really see, the good in others.
Lord, we are all Your children. You love us all equally. And You know each of our hearts. Every single one of us.
May we use today to honor You and reflect Your love. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
