Are you comfortable with your own company? No one else…just you. You are? Me too. As a matter of fact, I love my own company. I probably love my own company a little too much.
Sitting alone and enjoying your own company is better than being surrounded by fake people. ~Unknown
Humans are wired to be social animals. It’s genetic. We can’t help it. Very rarely will you see someone who does not want any human interaction. We need human contact. That’s just who we are.
On the flip side of that, we need to be able to be comfortable with just our own company too.
I think I learned to love being alone growing up. I spent many days with horses and cattle and sometimes just by myself. I was (and am) very bonded to the land and I loved just being. My sisters weren’t into the farm life as much as me so they were often doing other things. And as I grew into young adulthood and started College, my alone time was lengthened. I always lived by myself. And I loved it. And I was 39 before I married my husband so I had spent a lot of alone time before that. I’m sure you can imagine that I had to do some major adjusting as I learned to live with someone in the house with me.
I would rather live the rest of my life alone than be surrounded by fake people. People who are not genuine, are not sincere and have no other thought than what they can get from someone else. People who don’t understand core values and have no appreciation for loyalty and honesty are not the kind of people I want to be around. I will spend my time with genuine, real people or I will just be by myself.
Sending you blessings of love and gratitude from Sterrett, Alabama!
