Hank in the pasture – September 1, 2017
Here, Hank is so relaxed that he is practically falling asleep.
So, tomorrow is Labor Day. The day we are supposed to slow down, take it easy and relax. How many of you have started a “to-do” list for all the things you want to get done on your “off” day?
Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of Labor Day?
I had started a list. I was down to about number 7 before I realized what I was doing.
I have been working a lot, y’all. A whole, whole lot. And I am tired. I am both physically and mentally fatigued. Probably more so than ever before.
I’m sure some of y’all can relate. It’s not like I get “off” days either. I work every single day, 7 days a week. And it is taking its toll. I always tell myself that I am going to finish early today. Just get the priority things done and then take a break. But it never happens. I find myself saying, “Okay, I can get started on that and it won’t take so long tomorrow”. But I say that on the next day too. And the next one and so on.
But I have made the decision to not work tomorrow. Yes, I am getting extra things done tonight, but I am not working tomorrow. My mother is cooking breakfast for my husband and me and then my mother and I are going to shop for a while. My husband and dad will do stuff on the farm.
And, if you can, can you slow down? Just let the day be slow and lazy? I understand that children and animals have to be taken care of. But I mean other things you do that you could possibly take a break from. Laundry? Don’t do it. It can wait until Tuesday. House cleaning? It can wait. Early fall yard work? It can wait. Just take some time and totally relax.
If you can free your mind from distractions and do something that totally relaxes you, do it. If it’s watching old movies, do it. If it is going to barn and just being, do it. Do whatever brings you complete relaxation. Free your mind from worries and let work completely go. You see how relaxed Hank is in the video above? He is so relaxed, he is practically falling asleep. That’s how relaxed you need to be for Labor Day. 🙂
Believe me, your body, mind and soul will thank you for it.
Blessings to you and your family on Labor Day!
